oh no, you don't have to shoot them all manually. how hard would that be! there are shutter release remote controls that let press the button once and keep shooting (if it's on continuous release mode), unfortunately my camera doesn't have those so I literally just tape down my shutter with masking tape. It's super cheap way to solve the problem of holding down the shutter.
To edit a ton of pictures I record an "action" in photoshop that makes a note of all my modifications. I then save it for web and stop the recording. After that I do a batch edit with the action I made and an hour later all those pics are edited. It's pretty tricky but it works.
